Before you start

Three ways to find what to paste

Any one of them works. The first is Google’s own link and the most reliable.

Best: the link from your Business Profile

Signed in to the Google account that manages the business, open your Business Profile (search your business name on Google), choose “Read reviews”, then “Get more reviews”, and copy the link. It is Google’s own review link. Google’s help page notes that its QR code can only be made on a computer, not a phone — this tool makes one anywhere.

Google’s steps

Or: a Google Maps link

Find the business on Google Maps, open it (not a list of results) and copy the address bar, or tap Share and copy the maps.app.goo.gl link. We find the Place ID inside it.

Or: your Place ID

Search the business in Google’s free Place ID Finder and copy the ID under its name — it starts with “ChIJ”. Useful when you manage a client’s listing without access to it.

Google’s rules

Ask for reviews without risking them

Google removes reviews that break its policy and can restrict the profile. Each rule links to Google’s own page.

Ask every customer, the same way

Google forbids selectively asking for positive reviews or discouraging negative ones. No “if you were happy, review us; if not, call us first”.

Google’s policy

Never give anything in return

Discounts, free items, entries into a draw or payment for a review count as fake engagement, and Google removes such reviews.

Google’s policy

Don’t write reviews for customers

Don’t suggest a rating or wording, review your own business, or ask staff and family to post. Reviews must be the customer’s own experience.

Google’s policy

Customers need a Google account

Google asks reviewers to sign in. They can create an account with any email address, not only Gmail.

Where it works

Put the link where customers already are

Right after the job

In the thank-you email, the invoice or the “job done” text — while the visit is still fresh.

At the counter

The printed card by the till, on the table or in the waiting room. Customers scan it while they wait.

End of a chat

The last message after you’ve solved something on WhatsApp, Messenger or live chat.

Email signature and website

One line under your name, and the button on your contact or “thank you” page.

For agencies: see and answer every client’s reviews in one place.

Regenious shows each client’s Google Business Profile reviews, flags the ones still waiting for a reply and lets your team answer them from the dashboard — with the numbers in a white-label monthly report.

Questions about Google review links

Is the review link generator free?

Yes — no account and no limit. The link, QR code, card and messages are made in your browser. Only a maps.app.goo.gl short link is sent to our server, to see which Google Maps page it opens; nothing is stored.

What is the difference between the review link and the profile link?

The review link opens Google’s “write a review” box directly. The profile link opens the business on Google Maps, where the customer taps “Write a review” — one more tap, but it works on every device. Test the review link on a phone before printing it.

Why does my link from the address bar not work?

A link from a Google search results page points to the search, not the business. Open the business itself on Google Maps and copy that address, or use the link from your Business Profile.

Can I make a link for a business with a hidden address?

Yes. Service-area businesses can use the “Get more reviews” link from their Business Profile or their Place ID — neither needs the address to be shown.

Is it allowed to ask customers for Google reviews?

Yes. Google’s own help pages suggest sharing the review link in emails, chats and receipts. What isn’t allowed is asking only happy customers, offering anything in return, or writing reviews for people.

What size should the printed QR code be?

At least 2.5 cm (1 inch) square for a card held in the hand; bigger for a poster read from a distance. The counter card prints it at 6 cm on an A6-sized card.

Do I need to reply to the reviews?

Google recommends replying to reviews. Thank people for positive ones and answer negative ones calmly with how you will fix it — other customers read the replies too.
